Let us see what you can do in order to clean up some space on your hard drive. Keep on reading only if you are running a Windows operating system.
Disk Cleanup
First off you should run Disk Cleanup. In order to do this open your system tools folder (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools) Check all the boxes in Disk Cleanup in order to obtain the maximum amount of disk space possible.
Uninstall Unused Windows Components
In order to uninstall unused Windows components go to Start -> Control Panel. Now open the Add or Remove Programs program and click Add/Remove Windows Components. Next you will need to select all the components that you want to remove and then click OK. This can free some space. For instance, just the Microsoft Games are 12 MB and fax services plus MSN Explorer can raise add around 14 MB of free space. You just basically remove everything you do not need from the Windows operating system.
Old Programs Not Used
A lot of users end up having software on their computers that is old or is simply not used anymore. Go to your Control Panel and click on Add or Remove Programs. Look at the dates when the programs were last used. There is a big chance that you will have software that you have not used for months or more. Check all the programs you want to remove and remove them.
Keep in mind that you can also remove foreign language fonts that are of no use to you and use System Restore, just in case you delete something you need by accident
